Historical Notes and Churchyard
Churchyards
We have 3 unique and well maintained churchyards.
St. Mary's, Yapton is now closed, which means we can not do new burials. We are allowed to bury in existing family graves where there is room, and we have a plot for the internment of ashes direct into the ground. (No memorial is allowed). Burials for the parish of Yapton are now done at St. Andrew's, Ford. At Clymping we can do full burials or internment of ashes.
There are specific regulations concerning the type of headstone and the up keep of graves which are available from stone masons and the Benefice office.
The Churchyards primarily serve their local communities - full burials are reserved for villagers, members of the church and close family of those already buried.
We keep records of burials in each of our churchyards. If you are searching for someone please contact the Benefice Office. |
